It is a nice hotel. Near to the beach. The rooms are big enough. The beds are very hard, real wood. The airco can be very loud, but there are fans too. Service is oke. Great breakfast-buffet. The swimmingpool is rather small, and very cool too. And there are only 6 lazy chairs around the swimmingpool.

We stayed at Ao Nang Sunset and didn't expect that much, since it was very cheap, and rated as a 3 star hotel. But we were pleasantly surprised. We had made a note in the reservation that we would like to stay "above the ground", not the 1st or 2nd floor. So we got a very nice a room at the 6th floor, which ment we got to watch the beautiful sunset from the balcony every night.. The service was excellent, everyone was really nice, and the rooms were always clean, we had a minibar and aircondition and a safe in the room. Breakfast was included, and it was good (not excellent, but more than good enough), bread, pancakes, omelettes, sausage, jam and fruit ++++

There is also a small pool. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the beach (next to a road, so there is some traffic noise, but not that bad...) I don't think Ao Nang itself is a very exciting place to stay, but it's great if you take advantage of the possibilities, and go on boat trips to all the beautiful surrounding islands... (just rent a long tail boat for a day/half a day, or there are day trips with speed boats...)

We also stayed at Railey Beach and Phi Phi Island (both is paradise :-), Ao Nang is a good place to stay, but just for a few days, and you should go on island day trips :-)

A hotel for familys only, definitely not for singles - don t even think of taking a friend back, they make you feel like a criminal and charge 500 baht per visit. Make sure you check the contents of your room on arrival, they will try to charge you for missing items that they forgot to give you in the first place e.g. bath towels x 2. Get fit before you go, the entrance path is at least 30 degrees steep !!
